"Shivayan" is a hindu movie by hollywood producer hritik doshi, starring vicky karan and shilpa shetty in the lead roles. The film is based on the life of the tulsi avatar who has been depicted as an incarnation of shiva. The story revolves around tulsi bhagwan (a young man living in present day punjab) who takes up cause of women's rights following an incident where he saves a woman from getting molested by her employer, subsequently coming to know that she was disowned by her family after she took up his case which resulted in shame for them. The film was released worldwide on june 15th 2018. The project was announced in late 2016. Actress shilpa shetty was cast as the lead actress of the film, with vicky karnan being chosen for a supporting role. Production began in October 2016 and ended in December 2017. Originally slated for a release in 2017, the film's release date got delayed to june 2018 owing to clashing schedules with shilpa shetty and other producers. The film is a remake of a malayalam film from 1992 titled naayakan, which starred megastar mohanlal and shobana in lead roles. The story was also remade in bengali as toon ka nach. The film's music is composed bharat kalyan and its lyrics are written by raghavendra tadaskar. The film was released worldwide on june 15th 2018.The movie received positive reviews from critics. Ram Gopal Varma gave it a 2/5 and wrote "Shivaay, as a theme, is intriguing but the execution lets the film down" and he added "Shivayan comes up with a very intriguing story but fails to hold the interest of the audience". Nikhat Kazmi gave it a 0. 5/5 and wrote "Shivaay, an inspired effort in the making, fails to live up to its potential".

The trailer of the film was released on 4 June 2018. The film released all over India on 15 June 2018. The release was delayed by a month due to clashing schedule with actress Shilpa Shetty and other producers. It is the only Indian movie which has been officially licensed by Warner Bros. Entertainment for released in UAE, Qatar and Bahrain.
